This story starts with my newly developed interest in birds. It took a while for me to understand that there are different types of sparrows and there are larks and pipits etc. All labeled as चिमण्या or sparrows by my trekker friends and by me too.
Once it happened so that after clicking a sparrow like bird , I zoomed in the photo and observed that there is a yellow patch on her throat and suddenly I remembered the story of Salm Ali of his first identified Bird Yellow- Throated sparrow or Chestnut - Shouldered Petronia. I was truly happy to identify the bird by myself attached with big personality in ornithology.
Now when I knew that all those birds look like sparrows are Not necessarily sparrows , My scanning in the woods got little finer.
During a road trip of Marathwada we were strolling in the area of Aurangjeb's sisters tomb. The structure was ruined and dried grass and loose soil was everywhere. It was getting dark and we were walking cautiously on the footpath where suddenly I noticed a movement in the soil , I could make out that figure of a bird ... sparrow like... I tried to penetrate my gaze through the darkness and just clicked a shot ... after zooming I was sure that What I see is something I never noticed before.
Back home and I looked for the bird in the Bird book. Oh yes it was Ashy- Crowned Sparrow Lark.
Now I had two birds shots very poor in quality so... were there on my photo wishlist.
In the course of my travelling , cycling , trekking and bird watching I got fair shots of these birds showcasing there features...and adding to my precious collection of bird photos.
There are so many species , sub species to be observed and to be learned . But now since the bug has bitten, It will keep giving me many such realizations and Eureka Moments!!!
