After much planning , 3 of my birding friends join me for birding in the Valley Park of CBD Belapur on a hot humid day.
As I am about to leave my house, a good omen happens... though I am an absolute Atheist , the sight of भारद्वाज taking flight from my garden pot to the Guava tree in front of my house does not let me deny good omen....
Our sighting begins right at the entrance of the gate. The jewel of valley park Tickell's Blue Flycatcher chirps and shows off his blue orange and white palette feathers freely.
Shy Tawny bellied babblers are bold today. busy collecting nuts from the dried pods on the open branch giving us ample chance to focus and save in our digital memories.
As we enter the park I hear continuous busy talks of Vigor's sunbird and Purple sunbird.
As we all are from female species it is inevitable that we will chat and share about the travel we had while coming here and I share clicking the first bird of the day भारद्वाज right at my door step , one of my friend immediately points out that it's a saturday and its always a good omen to sight भारद्वाज specially on saturday., so wow , I was to have luckiest day today!!!
At every foot step Tickell' Blue is generous enough to give various poses on various perches. we also saw 2 together at a time.
Those who had not had good sighting of Orange Headed Thrush get satisfied to the brim , with his stand still pose in the sunlight...
Being his Breeding time, He was bold and beautiful and very vocal too.
And there... we hear the sweet musical whistle of The Shama.
White Rumped Shama was the first bird I had observed in the woods and identified with the help of bird guide around 16 years back. But After that never got a chance to get a good click till few days ago.
Valley park also gave me glimpses of it some times but no luck with the click. the pinch became wound when some of my birding friends clicked This girl in lovely bathing poses.... in the park. when they started visiting Valley park because of my publicity about the park ,
I was actually feeling jealous and nervous about this. But today was My day... That sweet whistle turned visual and here she was, dipping, shaking, preening around the bird bath , on the high perch right in front of me... fearless... Wow... what a great moment .
Yess Long awaited sighting of White-Rumped Shama in Valley Park.
This was just the beginning of our trail and later we could observe Ashy Prinia as well as Grey Breasted Prinia. And beautiful Laughing Dove.

Shy guy White Browed Bulbul also gave good pose for us to click.
Among the Raptors, Black Kite and Brahminy Kite were chasing each other far away. Shikra swooped suddenly and started circling in the sky.
With the weather getting warmer and warmer we start our return. Every one is waiting to get a good glance of Red Spurfowls which they saw at the birdbath just for few seconds when we entered the park.
Iora sighting is a lifer for Mrunal, Rajashree;s wish to click Orange headed Thrush is accomplished and Mita happy just being able to make it at such a wonderful birding spot.
The Spurfowl does not show up untill we reach out at the gate and there they are , moving towards inner forest but satisfying the wish of all of my friends with which they had come .
I am sure today was a Enviable birding day for all my birder friends to whom we kept updating!!!
